One page, held up to the light

p.174ch.6 ↗

page 174 of why's (poignant) Guide to Ruby. A code block, "# The guts of life force within Dwemthy's Array", defines class Creature with a metaclass method, a traits method using attr_accessor, metaclass.instance_eval and define_method, and a class_eval that defines initialize.

Handwritten in red pen across the right side of the code: "Code like this sometimes makes me question my sanity, but is also something I love about Ruby". Signed in pink: "Andy, Helvetic Ruby 24".

Page 174 is the guts of Dwemthy's Array. A metaclass. An instance_eval inside an each. A define_method inside that.

@docker_enjoyer wrote over the code in red:

Code like this sometimes makes me question my sanity, but is also something I love about Ruby Andy, Helvetic Ruby 24

@docker_enjoyer

Both are true. _why wrote it. Ruby ran it. Nobody's sanity came back.

The foxes got their traits from this code. They don't ask how.
